PVP-I is the complex compound of PVP K30 and iodine, 

 It has powerful bactericidal action to germ, virus, fungus, mold. It is stable, has no irritation and can dissolve in water completely. 

Description                                                          

PVP-I (Povidone Iodine) is a stable chemical complex of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)  and elemental iodine, which is completely soluble in water, ethanol etc. PVP-Iodine can extinguish bacterial, virus, fungus effectively. 

It is a stable complex with no irritation, which can dissolve in water completely.

The effect of sterilization and its improvement

Among the disinfectants commonly used in hospitals, numerous studies have focused on medical device sanitizers as well as hand and skin antiseptics, in addition to those receiving widespread attention. Iodophor products are the most widely employed among these. Market sampling of the bactericidal properties of iodine-containing disinfectants has revealed significant variations in disinfection efficacy across different types and brands, with some products demonstrating relatively low effectiveness.

Polyvinylpyrrolidone is a nonionic polymer compound classified into four grades based on its average molecular weight, indicated by the K value; higher viscosity corresponds to stronger bonding properties. When iodine complexes with polyvinylpyrrolidone, it forms a soluble complex known as polyvinylpyrrolidone iodine, also referred to as Povidone‑iodine (PVP‑Iodine), which releases free iodine to exert a potent bactericidal effect. PVP‑K30 is a nonionic polymer compound and one of the polyvinylpyrrolidone products.

Stability

The results showed that the decline rate of 37℃ stored for 3 months was lower than that of 54℃ stored for 14 days, indicating the existence of high temperature resistance. For the antiseptic with low temperature resistance, the content decline rate may be higher at high temperature storage than at low temperature storage, indicating that the accelerated test of two-year stability was qualified, while the one-year stability was stable.If conditions permit, it is recommended to use room temperature retention sample method to determine the stability of chemical disinfectants
