NVP homopolymer can be used for denture bonding due to its excellent adhesion, film-forming properties and physiological compatibility.

Utilizing its own characteristics: NVP homopolymer has good adhesion and can adhere well to various surfaces such as glass, metal, plastic, etc. It can form a strong adhesion with denture materials (such as acrylic resin, etc.) and oral mucosa surfaces. At the same time, it is hydrophilic and can maintain stable bonding performance in a humid oral environment, adapt to the moist conditions in the oral cavity, and ensure that dentures fit tightly with tissues such as gums. In addition, NVP homopolymer has good physiological compatibility, no toxic side effects, and will not irritate the oral mucosa, and can be safely used for denture bonding in the oral cavity.

Optimizing product formula: NVP homopolymer can be compounded with other auxiliary ingredients to make denture bonding preparations. For example, adding an appropriate amount of thickener, such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, etc., adjusts the viscosity of the preparation to make it easy to apply on the denture, while increasing the viscosity and improving the bonding effect. Adding moisturizers such as glycerol can prevent NVP homopolymer from drying too quickly in the mouth and maintain the durability of its bonding performance. A small amount of antibacterial agents such as chlorhexidine can also be added to inhibit the growth of oral bacteria, maintain oral hygiene, and prevent bonding failure or oral infection caused by bacterial growth.

Controlling the polymerization process: NVP homopolymers of different molecular weights can be prepared by controlling the conditions of the polymerization reaction, such as temperature, time, and initiator dosage. Generally speaking, NVP homopolymers with larger molecular weights have higher solution viscosity and may have stronger bonding strength, but poorer fluidity; the opposite is true for NVP homopolymers with smaller molecular weights. According to the specific needs of denture bonding, products with a suitable molecular weight range can be selected to achieve the best bonding effect.

Making specific dosage forms: NVP homopolymers can be made into gel-like or film-like dosage forms suitable for denture bonding. When made into a gel dosage form, the thickening and gel-forming ability of NVP homopolymer is used to form a uniform gel layer on the surface of the denture, which facilitates the placement of the denture and achieves firm adhesion. At the same time, the softness of the gel can better adapt to the shape of the oral tissue and improve wearing comfort. When made into a film dosage form, the NVP homopolymer solution can be coated on a specific carrier and formed into a film after drying. When used, the film is attached to the denture fitting surface. When it encounters moisture in the mouth, the bonding properties are activated to achieve denture bonding.
