A brief introduction to Povidone iodine

Povidone iodine (Povidone Iodine) is a loose complex with the combination of elemental iodine and polymer carrier, and it is the carrier and solubilization of Povidone. Yellowish brown to brown-red amorphous powder at room temperature. Micro-odor, soluble in water or ethanol, aqueous solution is acidic, insoluble in ether, chloroform, acetone, ethane and carbon tetrachloride. Povidone iodine aqueous solution has no tincture disadvantage, shallow coloring, easy elution, small stimulation to mucous membrane, no need for ethanol to remove iodine, no corrosive effect, and low toxicity.
